Masters in Communication Program Rankings

Masters in communication program rankings are not standardized. You might think that if you see one list of rankings from a reliable source that you know what masters in communication programs are the best but you never know what factors were taken into consideration until you find out for yourself. How many factors could possibly go into making a list such as this? That’s a good question.

Cost

Masters in communication program rankings may take the cost of the program into account. This may not be the most important detail of an education but it can be a deciding factor for students. Some rankings consider the cost while others ignore it.

Demographics

Demographics refer to the amount of students in a program that come from certain groups. What percentage of students are women? What percentage are minorities or foreign students? You may wish to know how diverse the students in a specific program are or you may wish to know how many masters are actually awarded to these groups to see if the majority of students in these groups complete the program. Program rankings may consider diversity to be an important aspect of the educational experience of they may not.

Selective Admission

Does the program that you are looking at have strict admissions requirements? Some program rankings will see a high level of selectivity as a bonus that indicates a program that invites only the best to obtain their masters in communication. Other program rankings may not look as favorably on this factor because only so many students can be the best. You need to be able to get into a program for it to be of any use to you. You just want to realize that when you look as masters in communication program rankings this factor could go either way. Or it may not be included at all.

Program Flexibility

Are you going to be a full time student and is that the only thing on your plate right now? If so then program flexibility may not be very important to you. However, if you have a job, a family, and other responsibilities then a program that can be flexible around your schedule and that can accommodate your special needs will be essential.

Masters in communication program rankings are not always consistent. You will not be looking for the same program attributes as everyone else. Just realize that you and the person doing the ranking may have different priorities.
